Hey, I’m Torie—Therapist for Cycle Breakers with Toxic Parents
If you grew up with a parent who was emotionally immature, narcissistic, or just plain unpredictable, it makes sense that you’re anxious, overwhelmed, and constantly second-guessing yourself. I want you to know that things are not hopeless—you just need a bit of help navigating out of this toxic cycle you grew up in.
I’m a licensed therapist who works with adults who are exhausted from people-pleasing, paralyzed by self-doubt, and totally over the chaos that comes with having a toxic parent.
I’m here to help you feel more grounded, confident, and in control—not just while we’re working together, but long after therapy ends (yep, I don’t think you should be in weekly therapy for the rest of your life).
As an anxious high-achiever myself, I get the pressure to keep it all together, the constant mental spiraling, and the never-ending self-criticism. And I also know what it’s like to slowly, step-by-step, build a life that’s calmer, clearer, and actually feels like your own.
My style is warm, straightforward, and real. I won’t just sit and nod while you vent for 50 minutes—I’m here to give you tools, tell you the truth (with compassion), and help you make changes that actually stick.
Outside of therapy, I’m a California native living in the Pacific Northwest. I love hiking, reality TV, and spending time with my family, friends, and dog. And I believe that healing doesn’t have to be boring, clinical, or all-or-nothing. Therapy can be honest, hopeful—and even a little bit fun.
If you're ready to stop walking on eggshells and start feeling like yourself again, I’d love to help.
A little more about me…
In addition to my therapy practice, I also run Confident Boundaries. Confident Boundaries is my second company through which I exclusively provide services for the adult children of parents with borderline and narcissistic personality disorders.
Through Confident Boundaries, I host my weekly podcast, You’re Not Crazy, provide coaching for the adult children of parents who have borderline and narcissistic personality disorders, and run the Confident Boundaries Membership.
Just in case you’re curious…

My therapy career began in San Diego, California a decade ago. I began providing therapy as a graduate student in 2013. Throughout the course of my career, I have provided individual, group, and family therapy to adults, teens, and children.
My professional experience includes working in an inpatient mental health hospital, community-based settings, non-profit clinics, and schools.
In 2018, I opened my private practice in San Diego. I have seen clients both online and in-person since that time. In the beginning of 2023, I transitioned my practice entirely online and obtained additional licensure in Oregon and Washington.
I have experience working with clients who are struggling with anxiety disorders, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bipolar disorders, psychosis, personality disorders, career-related stress, academic stress, relationship issues, family conflict, and eating disorders. Additionally, I have provided crisis intervention services to people struggling with self-harm and suicidality.

I have an integrated approach to therapy that pulls from Coginitive-Behavioral therapy, Psychodynamic therapy, Post-Modern therapies, and Humanistic therapy.
I strongly believe that therapy should provide you with tools you can implement into your day-to-day life, as well as help you better understand yourself by exploring patterns and meaningful relationships that have occurred throughout your life.
If you have any questions about my approach, just ask, and I’m happy to discuss further!
